I’m off to London tonight to attend the Global Voices 2005 Summit. Hard to believe that it’s already been a year since Global Voices was conceived, and I look forward to catching up with everyone and meeting all the people I’ve only known electronically. I’m also looking forward to talking about how the Kenyan blogosphere has blossomed in the past year….y’all make me proud.
Of course the new cabinet will probably be announced as I’m on my way to the airport so my punditing on that will be late. At this point I’m not expecting anything that will dramatically change the political situation in Kenya. It’s actually sad that things have been operating pretty smoothly without a Cabinet…a testament to how ineffective and lazy our politicians are…except when it comes to campaigning and traveling overseas. It would be interesting to see how much money has been saved since everyone was sacked. I just hope Kibaki was smart enough to at least trim down the size of the Cabinet It’s pretty obvious that we will be politiking all the way to 2007.
AOB: Check out Uncle Bob Mugabe’s homepage. Hilarious…
Sorry sis, I think kibaki beat you to it. He must have known you were in flight!!!! New cabinet is pretty much the same except for the ODM members who have all been sacked. Actually i am glad, what ODM needs now is to start aggresively campaigning throughout the country. I will be there in a few weeks and hope to have a feeling of what is going on on the streets.
I don’t think ODM will stay unified long enough to accomplish anything but I could be suprised…
Echo Raymond. I like that we get to read Kibaki’s speech through the very advertized government communications website. I’m hoping that the new cabinet, as a way of campaigning, become effective (finally). It’s their only chance seeing that the Orange members have been left free to campaignfor 2007 and upset reality as is their most outstanding capability. You may be in time to catch Baks on the reappointments of the 10 that are rumored to have declined their offered positions! Make us proud in London.
I guess there will have to be another cabinet named, now that most Ford-K and KANU ministers have declined their posts.
Kombo was probably expecting at a minmum, that he would be Kibaki’s vice -president.
Thanks buddy. Awesome website you got here. Have some extra links to point to with more stuff like this?
I think other web site proprietors should take this website as an model, very clean and magnificent user friendly style and design, let alone the content. You’re an expert in this topic!
